Sydney privacy policy
Last updated October 29, 2026
Sydney is a personal assistant with a single user: the person who built it and runs it on a home computer. This policy explains what Sydney does with Google user data.
What Sydney accesses
- Gmail: the messages, labels and settings the owner allows at Google's consent screen.
- Google Calendar: the owner's calendars and events, which Sydney can read, create, change and delete.
- Basic account information: the owner's email address, to know which account it is signed in to.
How Sydney uses it
Only to help the owner: to answer the owner's questions about mail and schedule, prepare a morning brief, and add or move calendar events on request. Sydney does not sell Google user data, does not use it for advertising, and does not share it with anyone except as described below.
Where it goes
Sydney's sign-in and the data it reads stay on the owner's computer. To answer a question, Sydney may send the relevant text to the AI model providers it uses (currently Anthropic and OpenAI), which process it under their own terms. Sydney does not use Google user data to train AI models.
Limited Use
Sydney's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access
The owner can remove Sydney's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Doing so stops Sydney from reading or changing anything further. Data kept on the owner's computer stays there until the owner deletes it.
